The "August on the Water" painting was completed in 2012 by artist Cherie L. Smittle featuring a Canal in Venice.
During the artists trip to Venice she fell in love with the beauty of the canals, bridges and decaying buildings. These became the inspiration for August on the Water. This painting was a interesting and fun study of perspective and water for the artist. It took quite some time to perfect the angles and lines in the buildings and bridge above and below the waterline. Once completed the artist turned her attention to the water itself. Historically, water has been a challenge for the artist so she wanted to master its complexity - mission accomplished.
