Bear Bones is a tribute to the artists brother-in-law who passed.  He was a tall man (6'7") who gave the best bear hugs, giving him the name Bear.  The style is inspired by the popular Sugar Skull (Day of the Dead art) and American Traditional tattoos.  The use of bright colors against the gray and black background of the skeleton gives it a joyful and celebratory feel, which aligns with the spirit of Día de los Muertos—honoring the dead with happiness, rather than mourning.

Story: Deep in an enchanted forest lived, Bear Bones, a black bear with a special purpose. Long ago, he was an ordinary bear, but after witnessing the sorrow of animals missing their departed loved ones, he sought a way to bridge the worlds of the living and the dead. On the eve of Día de los Muertos, an ancient oak granted his wish, transforming him into a mystical guide.

His fur turned midnight black, adorned with vibrant flowers and glowing skeletal patterns. Each year, on the Day of the Dead, Bear Bones led the spirits of the departed back to the forest, reuniting them with their loved ones for one magical night of celebration. With his ethereal glow and decorated sugar-skull face, he reminded all that love endures, even beyond death.
