Adrenaline, also known as Epinephrine, triggers the body's fight-or-flight response. The artist wanted to create a scene that got her heart pumping and made her feel alive. She loves snow skiing and rock climbing, both of which induce the fight or flight response. She took a ski trip to Aspen and skied the majority of the routes. Just looking at the Highlands Bowl scared her silly.
During her research on chemical formula structures, she learned there were multiple ways of depicting Adrenaline/Epinephrine. So she chose the one that fit her design the best.
