The "Colorado Sunrise" painting was completed in 2016 by artist Cherie L. Smittle featuring the Weminuche Wilderness area.

This is the artists interpretation of the Weminuche Wilderness area (pronounced ‘why-meh-nuke-ee’) located in the San Juan National Forest in Colorado which is the largest wilderness area in Colorado with more than 500k acres.  The peaks depicted in this painting are Pigeon and Turret of the Needle Mountain range. The artist added her own flair to the painting by incorporating Colorado’s state flower, the Columbine, in the sky.
